COLUMBIA, S.C. – Bill Metzger, a member of Robinson Gray law firm, is being honored in the 2025 edition of The Best Lawyers in America® as Lawyer of the Year in the practice area of Banking and Finance Law in the Columbia area.

He was one of 32 at Robinson Gray recognized by Best Lawyers for 2025. He was one of two of those to achieve the Lawyer of the Year designation, which is reserved for individuals with the highest overall peer-feedback for a specific practice area and geographic region. Only one lawyer is named “Lawyer of the Year” in each practice area and location.

In the main Best Lawyers list, Bill was recognized as well in two additional practice areas –Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights/Insolvency and Reorganization Law, and Business Organizations (including LLCs and Partnerships).

Bill received his undergraduate degree in Economics from Washington and Lee University and his MBA and JD from the University of South Carolina. Since then, he has served as a corporate, transactional and bankruptcy lawyer, helping clients meet and achieve their goals and objectives for more than three decades. He leads the growing Business Team at Robinson Gray and works with all members on a variety of matters, whether ‘front-end’ corporate and commercial transactions or ‘back-end’ workout or bankruptcy transactions.

Throughout his career, Bill has been consistently recognized by Super Lawyers and Best Lawyers, having been named Lawyer of the Year by Best Lawyers three previous times. He has also been South Carolina Lawyer’s Weekly “Go To Lawyer” for Business Law in South Carolina.
