“Race for the Case” for Katrina’s Kids
Why did you choose this project?
The typical foster care suitcase for a child is a trash bag. We wanted to change that. Our goal: to provide new book bags and suitcases for these children. We teamed up with three other law firms, Moore Taylor & Thomas, Callison Tighe and Nicholson Meredith Anderson and partnered with Katrina’s Kids to help all foster children get these suitcases to proudly carry their belongings as they transistion into a better life.
Katrina’s Kids, a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization, is the brainchild of State Senator Katrina Shealy, who has spent the last several years fighting for the children of South Carolina. Many kids “in the system” don’t have the same advantages as other kids, particularly when it comes to the “extra stuff” that kids love to do.
