COLUMBIA, S.C. – Robinson Gray attorneys Betsy Gray and La’Jessica Stringfellow were recognized for their service and achievements at the Richland County Bar Association’s annual meeting on December 10th.
Betsy received the John W. “Tootie” Williams Distinguished Service Award, the RCBA’s highest honor. La’Jessica was presented with the Civic Star Award, which recognizes outstanding community service by a member of the bar outside of the legal profession.
The John W. “Tootie” Williams Distinguished Service Award was established in the late 1980s to honor “distinguished and meritorious service to the legal profession or to the public in professional related activities.” Recipients are selected by the organization’s executive committee, who review nominations submitted by fellow members.
The same committee also selects an RCBA attorney to receive the Civic Star Award, which recognizes exceptional and meritorious service to the Richland County community for activities outside of the legal profession.
A founding member of Robinson Gray, Betsy is an accomplished litigator whose practice includes commercial litigation, probate and estate litigation, and professional liability and ethics. Betsy served as the second female president of the South Carolina Bar, and her long-standing professional impact has earned her numerous recognitions, including the South Carolina Supreme Court’s Lifetime Achievement Award, the DuRant Distinguished Public Service Award, and the University of South Carolina Joseph F. Rice School of Law Alumni Association’s Compleat Lawyer Award.
As an associate with the firm, La’Jessica focuses her practice on business and commercial litigation, as well as administrative and regulatory matters. She currently serves as President of the South Carolina Bar Young Lawyers Division and as chair-elect of the Bar’s Diversity Committee. Additionally, La’Jessica has served on the South Carolina Access to Justice Commission, was part of the USC Center on Professionalism’s Mentor Program, coached Mock Trial at Chester Middle School, and held leadership positions with the American Bar Association Young Lawyer’s Division.
“Betsy and La’Jessica exemplify the professionalism, service, and integrity that define our firm,” said Robinson Gray managing member Cal Watson. “We’re proud to see their contributions recognized by the Richland County Bar Association.”
