Sowell Gray Lawyer Elected to Friends of South Carolina Libraries Board
Sowell Gray Stepp & Laffitte, LLC attorney John C. Bradley Jr. has been elected to the board of the Friends of South Carolina Libraries and chosen to serve as vice president for 2009-10.
His election means Bradley will be serving double library duty. He’ll continue as president of the Friends of the Richland County Public Library until that term expires in September.
An avid reader whose first job was at a library while in high school, Bradley considers his work with both Friends groups to be his full-time, non-paying job.
“I am very excited about the opportunity to expand my involvement with libraries by serving as vice president of the statewide Friends organization,” he said. “Our libraries are tremendous assets to the community and the state. The Friends work to ensure that the system from which so many of us benefit remains among the top library programs in the United States.”
Local Friends groups and librarians formed the statewide Friends of South Carolina Libraries in 1989, with a goal of working together to improve libraries through out the state and to promote them as valuable community resources. The group also raises money and awareness.
