Attorney Sam Wellborn joins Sowell Gray Robinson
COLUMBIA, S.C. – Regulatory attorney Sam Wellborn has joined Sowell Gray Robinson law firm as an associate.
Sam’s practice is focused primarily on regulatory and administrative law, with an emphasis on utilities regulation. Through his education and experience, Sam has developed an in-depth understanding of how policy and the law influence decision-making within regulatory frameworks.
Before joining the firm, Sam had worked at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in Washington, D.C., focusing on disputes between utilities, issues related to cost-of-service ratemaking, transactions between affiliates, and wholesale power market rules. More recently, Sam served as Advice Attorney at the S.C. Department of Labor, Licensing & Regulation, providing legal and policy advice to various occupational licensing boards.
Sam completed his bachelor’s degree and a Master of Public Administration degree at the University of South Carolina. During that time, he served eight years in the Army Reserves and was deployed to Baghdad in 2005. He received his Juris Doctor degree from Wake Forest University School of Law, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Wake Forest Journal of Law & Policy.
He was admitted to the South Carolina State Bar in 2015.
