COLUMBIA, S.C. – Shannon Till Poteat, a member of Robinson Gray law firm, has been named as one of 22 “Influential Women of Law” by South Carolina Lawyers Weekly.

This is the inaugural year of the award, which is intended to spotlight the important role leading women play in the Carolinas’ legal community based upon their leadership, business acumen, mentoring, community involvement, and their contribution to the legal field.

“I strongly believe Shannon embodies every one of these tenements to their fullest,” wrote Robinson Gray associate Brandon Rattray in nominating her. “I can truly think of no one more deserving of this recognition.”

Shannon and the other honorees have been profiled in the June issue of S.C. Lawyers Weekly, and featured on the publication’s website as well.

Shannon focuses her practice at Robinson Gray on workers’ compensation and workers’ compensation mediation. She is one of the authors of the second, third, fourth and fifth editions of The Law of Workers’ Compensation.

She has been honored by Best Lawyers year after year, and was named a Lawyer of the Year by that listing in 2022. She has also been named to Columbia Business Monthly’s Legal Elite in the area of workers’ compensation. She holds a Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent rating.

“I could go on for pages about Shannon’s business accomplishments and acumen,” wrote Brandon Rattray in his letter, “But that would neglect those areas where she truly shines brightest: community involvement and contribution to the legal field.”

When asked herself for one word describing her, she answered: “Involved.” She is a member of the South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Educational Association and has been consistently recognized by Best Lawyers for her work in Workers’ Compensation Law. She is also active in the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association.
