Sowell Gray’s Cal Watson becomes secretary of the SC Bar

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Sowell Gray Stepp & Laffitte Managing Member Cal Watson was sworn in as Secretary of the South Carolina Bar in Greenville on May 5, 2011.

Watson has served on the South Carolina Bar’s House of Delegates since 1998.
He has served on the South Carolina Bar Board of Governors since 2009 after previously serving from 1997 to 2000. Watson is a former president of the South Carolina Bar Foundation and the South Carolina Bar Young Lawyer’s Division.

His practice areas at Sowell Gray are professional liability and commercial litigation and business dispute resolution. Watson is also a certified South Carolina Circuit Court mediator.

A summa cum laude graduate of Wofford College, Watson holds a juris doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law. Fellow alumni honored him in 2001 with the Compleat Lawyer Award Silver Medallion, which goes annually to an attorney who has made a significant contribution to the legal profession and who exemplifies the highest standard of professional competence, ethics and integrity.

He’s been selected as a South Carolina Super Lawyer for three consecutive years, and he’s been listed in Best Lawyers in America and in Chambers U.S.A.’s America’s Leading Lawyers for Business yearly since 2009.
