Jordan, Richardson named members of Sowell Gray Robinson
COLUMBIA, S.C. – Sowell Gray Robinson Stepp & Laffitte, LLC, is pleased to announce that attorneys Will Jordan and Beth Richardson have become the firm’s newest members.
Will Jordan focuses his practice in the areas of professional negligence, employment, and business and commercial litigation. He has experience representing attorneys and law firms in legal malpractice actions in both state and federal courts. Will also defends employers against claims for violations of federal and state anti-discrimination laws and other employment-related claims. His litigation experience covers a wide variety of business and commercial areas, including construction, banking, and landlord/tenant disputes.
Will graduated magna cum laude in 2007 from the University of South Carolina School of Law, where he made both the Dean’s List and the President’s List and was a member of the Order of the Coif and Order of Wig and Robe. He served on the editorial board of the South Carolina Law Review. He has been named a South Carolina “Super Lawyer” Rising Star in business litigation.
Will and his wife, Kennerly, have four children and are active in Grace Presbyterian Church.
Beth Richardson’s practice focuses on business disputes of all kinds. Her clients include publicly traded and private companies and their officers and employees operating in a wide array of industries such as real estate development, insurance, energy and utility, restaurant and retail, financial investing, and health care. Beth’s litigation experience also includes trust and estate work and appellate advocacy, particularly in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, where she argued a case successfully to a published decision for her client in 2015. For the last two years, Beth has been named a South Carolina “Super Lawyer” in business litigation.
Before joining the firm in 2013, she served as an adjunct professor in advanced legal writing at the University of South Carolina School of Law and was an associate for five years at another firm. Beth completed judicial clerkships in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina. She received her law degree from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis, where she served as Editor in Chief of the Law Review and was the National Association of Women Lawyers Outstanding Law Graduate. Her undergraduate degree is from Duke University.
She is highly active in the community. She is serving on the boards of Central Carolina Community Foundation and the Women’s Rights and Empowerment Network, and chairs the board of the New Morning Foundation. She has been vice chair of East Point Academy, South Carolina’s public charter K-8 Mandarin Immersion School, where she has also been a homeroom parent. She is involved with the University Hill Neighborhood Association and the Junior League of Columbia.
Beth is also a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.
