Haigler and Tyson named honorees for Leadership in Law Awards
COLUMBIA, S.C. – Sowell Gray Robinson is pleased to announce that members Nick Haigler and Rob Tyson have been named honorees for the 2018 South Carolina Lawyers Weekly Leadership in Law Awards.
This award honors outstanding members of South Carolina’s legal community who work to better the legal profession through mentoring and involvement within their community. A top ‘Lawyer of the Year’ will be selected out of the class of honorees and revealed the night of March 23, 2018, in Charleston.
Haigler is a litigator focusing his practice in workers’ compensation defense. He has experience representing businesses, insurance companies and self-insured employers before the Workers’ Compensation Commission, the South Carolina Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of South Carolina.
Very active in his community, Haigler is a recipient of the Glenn Jacobus Award presented by Leadership Columbia and was named to the Honor Roll of the South Carolina Bar Pro Bono Program. He serves on the planning committee for the Annual Medical Conference of the South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Educational Association, and has served on the boards for Kids’ Chance of South Carolina and Friends of Epworth Children’s Home.
Tyson practices in the areas of business litigation, administrative law, and election law. He has represented clients before the South Carolina Supreme Court and other levels of state and federal courts, and has appeared before many local and state government entities. He has extensive experience in matters involving utility companies and is a South Carolina certified mediator.
He has litigated numerous election disputes, with clients including incumbents, challengers, county election commissions and other interested stakeholders.
As part of his service to the community, Tyson served on the Richland One School Board and the Leukemia Society Light the Night Executive Committee. He also volunteers for the Midlands Mediation Center, a group that provides mediators for small claim matters in magistrate court.
