Robinson Gray’s professional liability team consists of trial lawyers who handle a wide range of disputes ranging from administrative and ethics proceedings to professional negligence and disciplinary actions. We find that the professionals we represent, including directors and officers, accountants, attorneys, brokers, real estate professionals, and engineers have unique needs, and we understand them. Reputations are at stake. Confidential or privileged communications need to be protected. Personal finances may be at risk. Whether we litigate a dispute or we provide our clients with the day-to-day legal counsel they need to avoid lawsuits, we are sensitive to their needs and work with them to develop a strategy to best accomplish their goals.

Because some professionals want an early resolution of claims against them, we work with these clients to develop and pursue reasonable alternatives to litigation, including arbitration and mediation. Other professionals wish to aggressively litigate the claims asserted against them, and for these clients, our trial lawyers provide effective and efficient representation during all phases of what is often a difficult and emotional process.

Robinson Gray’s professional liability team has defended individuals as well as large and small organizations against claims of malpractice, fraud, negligence, breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract, and conspiracy. Additionally, we have represented our clients before administrative boards and in all South Carolina and federal courts.

Robinson Gray’s team has represented numerous lawyers, law firms, and legal professionals in litigated matters, pre-suit and ethics counseling, and as general counsel. Our team also provides counsel to lawyers during investigations by the South Carolina Office of Disciplinary Counsel and represents them in subsequent proceedings. We understand the sensitivity of this process and provide responsive representation.

In addition to memberships in many professional organizations and bar associations, our attorneys are listed in Best Lawyers in America (Professional Malpractice category), are members of the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers, and serve on Professional Responsibility Committees for several professional organizations. Several of our attorneys are co-authors of The Law of Legal Malpractice in South Carolina published by the South Carolina Bar in 2017 and re-published in 2021.
